A 13-year-old boy named Armaan Ali was attacked by a wolf while sleeping on the terrace of his home in Pipri Mohan village, Mahsi area, on Sunday night. The incident occurred as the region continues to grapple with a series of wolf attacks that have left the local community in fear.
Armaan sustained injuries to his neck during the attack and was promptly taken to a nearby Community Health Center for initial treatment. He was subsequently referred to the Medical College in Bahraich for further care. The situation remains critical as the community and authorities await updates on his condition.
This attack is the latest in a troubling series of incidents involving a pack of wolves that have been terrorizing residents across 50 villages in Uttar Pradesh. Since mid-July, these predators have claimed the lives of 10 children and one woman, and injured 51 others. The ongoing crisis has prompted a significant response from both local authorities and the state government.
On Sunday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Sisaiya Churamani village in Mahsi tehsil to meet with affected families. During his visit, the Chief Minister expressed his condolences to the victims and assured them that the government is committed to addressing the crisis. “We are taking all necessary measures to prevent further incidents,” Adityanath stated. “Operation Bhediya will continue until we ensure that the area is fully safe.”
Operation Bhediya, launched by the Uttar Pradesh government, aims to capture the remaining wolf from the pack. Forest officials have successfully captured five of the six wolves believed to be involved in the attacks. The last wolf, which is suspected to be the alpha of the pack, remains at large.
The situation continues to evolve, with forest officials and local authorities working tirelessly to bring the crisis under control. The community remains on high alert as efforts to capture the remaining wolf intensify.
