IndiGo is marking its 18th anniversary with a major shift in its service offerings. The airline, which has built its reputation on affordable, no-frills travel, is introducing business class for the first time.
Starting in November, IndiGo will launch business class on 12 metro routes across India. This new service will be available for booking from tomorrow, with the first flights scheduled for mid-November. The move reflects the airline’s adaptation to changing customer needs, according to Pieter Elbers, Chief Executive Officer of IndiGo.
Elbers highlighted the airline’s growth over the past 18 years, noting that IndiGo now serves 88 domestic and 33 international destinations. He emphasized that the introduction of business class aligns with the evolving market demands and will provide enhanced comfort and convenience for a new segment of travelers.
In addition to the new business class service, IndiGo announced plans to operate wide-body Airbus A350-900 aircraft by 2027, further expanding its service capabilities.
