Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath virtually laid the foundation stone for an IKEA store in Noida from Lucknow on Monday, as stated in an official announcement.
Adityanath highlighted that over the past seven and a half years, Uttar Pradesh has become a preferred investment destination, gaining confidence from both domestic and international investors. He credited the state’s progress to its focus on infrastructure development, investment opportunities, skill development, and promotion of traditional products.
The Chief Minister praised the state’s ODOP (One District One Product) scheme and its position in ease of doing business, noting its robust law and order. He also mentioned that Uttar Pradesh contributes 9.2% to the national economy and has emerged as the second-largest state economy in India.
Adityanath attributed the IKEA project to the state’s 2017 industrial development policy, which aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emphasis on linking investment with employment. He reported a decrease in the state’s unemployment rate over the past seven and a half years.
He further stated that by the end of the year, public transport will connect Noida, Greater Noida, and Yamuna Authority areas, and the Noida International Airport will be operational. “With its immense potential, Uttar Pradesh offers significant benefits to India and the global community,” Adityanath remarked.
Swedish Ambassador to India Jan Thesleff, UP’s Industry Minister Nand Gopal Gupta, MSME Minister Rakesh Sachan, Chief Secretary Manoj Singh, and IKEA India CEO Susanne Pulverer were present at the event.
