In his opening address at the third Voice of Global South Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for collective action among developing nations to address food and energy security, terrorism, and other global challenges. The virtual summit, hosted by India, saw Modi announce a $25 million contribution to a new ‘Social Impact Fund’ for advancing digital public infrastructure (DPI).
Modi highlighted the compounded global uncertainties from COVID-19, conflicts, climate change, and technological divides, criticizing outdated global governance systems. He also showcased India’s efforts in promoting the Global South, including the ‘India Stack’ digital platform and Mission LiFE initiatives for renewable energy and financial inclusion.
He concluded by emphasizing the importance of solidarity and mutual support to achieve development goals and elevate the Global South’s global standing.
