A woman was removed from a flight at Pune’s Lohegaon Airport on Saturday after allegedly assaulting two passengers and a CISF constable during boarding.
The disturbance began when the woman, in apparent distress, attacked a brother and sister in their seats. Crew members intervened, and CISF constables Priyanka Reddy and Sonika Pal were called to manage the situation. The woman’s aggression escalated, leading her to slap and bite Constable Reddy.
The constables restrained the woman and escorted her and her husband off the plane. She was handed over to the airport police, who registered a case against her. Senior Inspector Ajay Sankeshwari confirmed she was released with a notice to comply with the investigation.
A CISF officer stated that the woman seemed to be in “extreme distress due to a personal emergency.” Following the altercation, the pilot opted not to continue the flight, prompting the airline to seek assistance from the CISF.
This incident highlights the crucial role of maintaining order during air travel and the effectiveness of airport authorities in managing such situations.
