The Passport Seva portal will be unavailable for maintenance from 8:00 PM IST on August 29 to 6:00 AM IST on September 2, the government announced. During this period, no new appointments can be scheduled, and previously booked appointments will be rescheduled.
The External Affairs Ministry stated that this maintenance is routine and part of their contingency planning. The portal, essential for booking passport appointments and renewals, will not be accessible to citizens or various authorities during the downtime.
Applicants with appointments scheduled for August 30 will be informed of their rescheduled times. The portal allows users to book appointments for new passport applications or renewals, followed by document verification and police checks. The regular passport issuance takes 30-45 working days, while the Tatkaal service offers expedited processing.
