On August 31, 2024, wrestler Vinesh Phogat showed her support for the farmers’ protest at the Shambhu border, marking the 200th day of their demonstration. The farmers are demanding a legal guarantee for the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for all crops, among other agricultural issues.

Phogat, who has been vocal in supporting the farmers’ cause, voiced her concerns about the prolonged protest. She emphasized the vital role of farmers in sustaining the nation and urged the government to address their demands.

The protest, which began on February 13 after authorities blocked the farmers’ march to Delhi, has expanded to other critical borders including Khanauri and Ratanpura. Farmers’ leaders expressed frustration over the lack of government response and called for renewed efforts to meet their demands.

Kisan Mazdoor Morcha convenor Sarvan Singh Pandher announced plans for large gatherings at Shambu and Khanauri borders to present their demands once again.
