The Supreme Court today denied interim bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a corruption case linked to the scrapped liquor policy. The court has requested a response from the CBI and set the next hearing for August 23.
Senior Advocate Abhishek Singhvi argued that Kejriwal’s previous bail in related cases and described the current arrest as unjust. Despite these arguments, the Supreme Court rejected the plea for interim relief.
The Delhi High Court had previously upheld Kejriwal’s arrest, noting evidence of his potential to influence witnesses. The corruption case involves allegations of irregularities and favoritism under the now-withdrawn Delhi Liquor Policy. Other senior AAP leaders, including Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, have also been arrested and are out on bail. The AAP claims the charges are politically motivated.
