In Purnea, Bihar, a daring robbery unfolded at a Tanishq showroom on Friday morning, as at least six men disguised as customers stole gold and diamond jewelry at gunpoint. The robbers, who had previously confiscated the mobile phones of all 22 staff members and locked them in a room, executed the robbery in an alarming 20-minute window.
According to staff member Vivek, the criminals carried out the heist in a highly organized manner, absconding with jewelry valued in the crores. The robbers, aged between 22 and 25, were mostly unmasked, with only two wearing disguises. The gang also managed to subdue the security guards during the operation.
The staff noted that the exact value of the stolen jewelry is still being assessed, but it is expected to be several crores. Fortunately, no staff members were harmed during the incident. Eyewitnesses reported that the robbers had parked their motorbikes near a hospital located approximately 100 meters from the showroom. After the heist, they split into two groups: three men heading east and the other three fleeing west, carrying a large bag with the stolen goods.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer Pushkar Kumar confirmed that six armed assailants on two motorcycles were involved in the robbery. He stated that all police stations in Purnea and surrounding districts have been alerted in the effort to apprehend the suspects. The police have collected CCTV footage from both inside the showroom and the surrounding area to aid in their investigation.
