In line with the National Education Policy 2020, the Madhya Pradesh government has directed colleges to integrate ‘Indian knowledge systems’ into their curricula. The higher education department has instructed colleges to acquire and include 88 books by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) functionaries, including works by Suresh Soni, Dinanath Batra, Dr. Atul Kothari, and Swami Vivekananda, as well as books on Vedic Mathematics. The initiative also involves setting up a Bharatiya Gyan Parampara Prakoshth cell for Indian knowledge traditions.
The Congress party has criticized the decision, accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party of pushing divisive ideologies into education. Similar changes have been reported in other states, including Gujarat.
