During Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s visit to the United States, India and the US signed a bilateral, non-binding Security of Supply Arrangement (SOSA) on Thursday. India becomes the 18th partner in this initiative, which aims to ensure reciprocal priority support for critical national defense resources.
The SOSA, signed by Dr. Vic Ramdass of the US Department of Defense and Samir Kumar Sinha from India’s Ministry of Defence, will help both countries manage supply chain disruptions and enhance defense cooperation. Dr. Ramdass emphasized that the arrangement strengthens the US-India Defense Technology and Trade Initiative (DTTI) and will facilitate co-development and co-production efforts.
The agreement includes provisions for priority delivery requests, with the US offering assurances through the Defense Priorities and Allocations System (DPAS), and India establishing a government-industry Code of Conduct. SOSAs are designed to improve interoperability and address supply chain issues across peacetime and conflict scenarios.
