In a troubling incident at Gudlavalleru Engineering College in Andhra Pradesh’s Krishnan district, a hidden camera was allegedly discovered in the women’s hostel toilet, reportedly recording students without their consent. The camera was supposedly discovered by a group of female students, leading to an overnight protest demanding justice.
The Andhra Pradesh government has initiated an inquiry into the matter. Human Resource Development Minister Nara Lokesh has vowed stringent action against those responsible, emphasizing that measures will be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The police have arrested a senior student from the boys’ hostel in connection with the incident. Despite seizing his laptop and mobile phone, no leaked videos have been found so far. Krishna District SP Gandadhar Rao confirmed that no hidden cameras were discovered during the investigation and reassured students that further inquiries are underway.
The incident has caused significant distress among female students, many of whom are now apprehensive about using the restroom facilities. This follows a similar incident earlier this month in Bengaluru, where a hidden camera was found in a coffee shop’s women’s washroom.
