Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Friday launched the Centre’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign at August Kranti Maidan in Mumbai, marking the 82nd anniversary of the Quit India movement. Shinde announced that the national flag will be displayed atop 2.5 crore homes, offices, and commercial establishments across the state.
The campaign, which runs until August 15, encourages citizens to display the national flag to foster nationalism and patriotism, particularly among the younger generation. Shinde also administered a pledge for citizens to hoist the flag at their homes and flagged off a cyclathon and padyatra involving students and youth.
The Quit India movement, launched from August Kranti Maidan in 1942 by Mahatma Gandhi, was pivotal in India’s struggle for independence. On this occasion, Tushar Gandhi, Aaditya Thackeray, Yogendra Yadav, and leaders from Congress, NCP, and Shiv Sena (UBT) paid floral tributes to the martyrs.
