In the wake of an extraordinary T20 World Cup triumph, Gautam Gambhir is taking on the role of head coach for the Indian cricket team, inheriting a squad that has already carved its name in cricketing history. Speaking candidly before the team’s departure for Sri Lanka, Gambhir shared his vision and approach with the media. “I am taking over an incredibly successful team,” Gambhir said, acknowledging the significant accomplishments of the squad. “We are T20 World Champions, and we came close in the ODI and Test formats. Joining Gambhir in his coaching staff will be Abhishek Nayar and Ryan Ten Doeschate, both of whom have previously worked with Gambhir at Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). “I’ve worked closely with Abhishek and Ryan during the IPL season,” Gambhir noted. “They are complete experts , and I am confident that their expertise will be invaluable for Team India.
As the team gears up for the upcoming series, Gambhir will be working alongside stalwarts like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Expressing his admiration for Kohli, Gambhir stated, “Virat and I share a great relationship. He is an exceptional player, and together, we aim to make our 140 crore fans proud. Both Virat and Rohit have plenty of cricket left in them, and we have exciting challenges ahead, including the Champions Trophy and the 2027 World Cup.
