Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday emphasized the importance of water and environmental conservation as integral to India’s cultural consciousness. Speaking virtually at the launch of the ‘Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari’ initiative in Surat, Modi advocated for the adoption of the “reduce, reuse, recharge, and recycle” mantra to address water scarcity.
The initiative aims to bolster community involvement in water conservation efforts. PM Modi stressed the need to employ innovative techniques and advanced technology to effectively manage and conserve water resources. He highlighted that India, with only four percent of the world’s freshwater resources, faces significant water crises in various regions.
Modi also remarked on the recent unprecedented rainfall in different parts of the country, underscoring the urgency of water conservation. “Water and environment conservation is part of India’s cultural consciousness,” he asserted.
The ‘Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari’ initiative complements the ongoing “Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain” campaign, aligning with Modi’s vision of collaborative water management to secure long-term water availability for the nation.
