The BCCI has announced a record surplus of INR 5120 crore from the IPL 2023, a 116% increase from last year’s INR 2367 crore. Total IPL income surged by 78% to INR 11,769 crore, boosted by a new media rights deal valued at INR 48,390 crore for 2023-27. Viacom18’s JioCinema acquired digital rights for INR 23,758 crore, Disney Star secured TV rights for INR 23,575 crore, and Tata Sons obtained title rights for INR 2500 crore, with additional sponsorships totaling INR 1,485 crore.
Media rights income jumped 131% to INR 8,744 crore, while payments to franchises rose to INR 4,670 crore. The BCCI’s total bank balance reached INR 16,493.2 crore, up by INR 10,991.29 crore. The board also earned INR 636 crore from the Women’s Premier League and paid INR 2,038 crore in GST. Ajimon Francis of Brand Finance India urged the BCCI to leverage its success to advance global cricket development.
