During a recent meeting on the IndiaAI mission, industry stakeholders suggested creating a ranking or certification system for artificial intelligence (AI) startups to enhance their credibility and facilitate funding. The meeting, held on August 27, was chaired by Minister of State for Electronics and IT Jitin Prasada and attended by key officials, including Telangana’s IT and Industries Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan.
Participants discussed the need for a benchmark to differentiate genuine AI solutions from those not meeting the criteria. This proposed ranking system could help investors make informed decisions and concentrate resources on promising startups.
The meeting also explored the possibility of the government directly procuring from AI startups, similar to Telangana’s approach with its T-Hub incubator. This would provide startups with consistent business opportunities and reduce reliance on grants.
The IndiaAI Mission, recently approved with a Rs 10,732 crore budget, aims to bolster AI infrastructure and support, including the procurement of 10,000 graphics processing units (GPUs) to enhance AI capabilities across various sectors.
