At just 20, Shashank ND and Abhinav Lal, fresh engineering graduates from NIT Suratkal, took a bold leap from corporate job security to revolutionize healthcare. They co-founded Practo, a digital health platform aimed at transforming how people access and manage their health records.
Transforming Healthcare
What started as a simple idea to digitize health records has evolved into a global healthcare giant. Practo now connects patients with over 200,000 doctors, 10,000 hospitals, and 5,000 diagnostic centers across 35 cities and four countries. The platform enables appointment bookings, online consultations, and digital health records management.
Overcoming Early Hurdles
Shashank and Abhinav faced significant challenges, from low internet penetration to building trust among users. They launched Practo Ray, a cloud-based software for doctors, which quickly gained traction. Despite difficulties in raising funds and convincing stakeholders, their vision attracted major investors like Sequoia Capital and Yuri Milner, securing $124 million in funding.
Expanding Horizons
Starting in India, Practo has now expanded to Singapore, the Philippines, and Indonesia, with plans to reach 100 cities in India and 10 more countries. Shashank envisions a world where digital health records make quality healthcare universally accessible.
Building a Comprehensive Ecosystem
Practo aims to create a seamless healthcare ecosystem, integrating appointment scheduling, diagnostic services, and health record management. With a dedicated team of 1,500 professionals, Practo is set to continue its mission of improving global healthcare access and innovation.
