Amazon has introduced its AI shopping assistant, Rufus, to users in India. Currently in beta, Rufus is available through the Amazon mobile app and offers features such as answering queries, suggesting products, and comparing items to assist users in making informed purchasing decisions.
Rufus, which debuted in the US earlier this year, now includes a new icon on the bottom right of the app. Users can interact with the chatbot through a text field, and previous conversations are accessible when reopened. The assistant can provide gift suggestions, compare products, and answer specific questions about items on their detail pages.
The AI tool utilizes Amazon’s extensive database and can also search the internet for additional information. Users are encouraged to provide feedback on Rufus’s responses to improve accuracy. The chatbot is named after one of the first dogs allowed in Amazon’s offices, reflecting the company’s unique workplace culture.
The feature will be rolled out to more users across India in the coming weeks.
